“When my daughter was 4 years old, she had great difficulty with writing. She had practiced tracing letters and numbers in preschool, but when she needed to write those letters freehand, it was like she had she had never practiced tracing at all. Her lines were all over the place like an ant which had lost its trail. For example, even after tracing the letter “a” 20 times, she was unable to come close to reproducing the letter freehand. Rather than take a wait and see approach, I decided to be proactive and seek help for my daughter.

Greta worked with her weekly on handwriting exercises. Overtime, those squiggles started to look like letters and numbers. Going into kindergarten, my daughter was able to write her letters and numbers from memory, which she was unable to do before. By the time she was 6 years old, her printing was so neat. Now at 8 years old, her printing is neater than even some adults. Greta also worked with my son on his handwriting. He did not start with Greta as early as my daughter, but he could have definitely benefited. Since he was older, she helped him learn how to do cursive writing. Cursive writing is not emphasized in many schools anymore, which is a shame because some kids grow up not even being able to read cursive writing. He enjoys writing cursive. He also had trouble with sizing and spacing his printed letters because he tended to write too large for his age. He is able to print smaller now, which also improved his neatness.
